Recognising Barriers to Preventative Management Plans![]() Once a prevention plan is developed, it must be fully implemented. Yet, there are often situations where this does not occur. Both PUPPS studies found that many patients, identified at ‘High’ to ‘Very High’ risk of developing a PU had no support surfaces in situ. Of even more concern, 534 patients (38.7%) with a PU had no support device in situ. Additionally, of those with a Stage 3 or 4 PU as their highest stage of ulcer, 33% had no support device in situ.
