How should Mrs. Walker be positioned? Given her level of mobility, what preventative interventions are indicated to protect her from the effects of unrelieved pressure?

Read the following prevention strategies and determine if all of the points should be implemented.

  • Position her in a 30° lateral/tilt position
  • Ensure the head of the bed is not greater than 30° if Mrs Walker is not having respiratory distress at the time
  • Put pillows or padding between her knees and ankles
  • Consider a protective dressing on her elbows to prevent injury
  • Keep her heels elevated off the bed surface
