Treatment Care Plan

In general, if a PU is present, the same prevention management plan needs to continue to prevent the ulcer from deteriorating and/or the development of further PUs. However, a treatment care plan also needs to be developed.

Listed below are a number of key PU management principles:

  • wound assessment
  • wound bed preparation
  • select appropriate dressing
  • manage wound pain
  • monitor, document, communicate.
