Selecting the Appropriate Dressing

The wound dressing selected will depend on the characteristics of the wound and surrounding tissue. The aim of dressings is to assist with wound bed preparation by:

  • having a role in debridement
  • maintaining bacterial balance
  • managing exudate
  • preventing wound dehydration.
