Healthy residents
This package has been developed to help ensure that residents in your care are healthy and safe. The information is provided to help you learn how pressure areas develop and learn how to reduce the risk of residents developing pressure areas. It also provides information to help you identify and use preventative strategies.

The package contains:

  • a series of modules providing information about pressure areas 
  • a number of activities for you to complete, to help with understanding about prevention of pressure areas.

The evidence base for these modules is the Australian Wound Management Association (AWMA) Clinical Practice Guidelines for the Prediction and Prevention of Pressure Ulcers 2001.

The development of the resource was assisted by advice and information gathered during a state-wide consultation process with aged care service providers, reference group members, clinical experts and peak organisations. It was also supported by research to investigate best practice measures currently implemented by other organisations.
