The aim of the package is to help you develop:

  • skills in identifying residents at risk
  • provide you with information on how pressure areas are assessed by registered nurses
  • knowledge and skills in observation of skin condition
  • a familiarity with various preventative actions
  • an understanding of various preventative aids and their uses
  • a recognition of the stages of pressure ulcers
  • an understanding of the communication issues around pressure area prevention.

Tips for working with online, self-paced learning resources

  • Find a comfortable, quiet place to work.
  • Work through each module at a steady pace — you can always come back to the module and continue from where you left off.
  • Write down responses and take notes if this helps you remember information.
  • Ask someone who has completed an online learning resource for hints.
