Rachel develops a pressure area

Rachel was a very overweight woman who had been quite mobile until recently. Over the past few days she had been requesting a wheelchair to take her to the toilet, as she was finding the walk down the hallway to the toilet very tiring. Staff had been using the nearest available wheelchair so they could get her to the toilet in comfortable time, however because of her size, her hips had been rubbing against parts of the wheelchair. She had developed pressure areas on both hips. Apart from treating the pressure areas as soon as they were observed, staff made arrangements for Rachel to be provided with a wheelchair that was the correct size for her. |
