George develops a pressure area
George had cardiac disease. If it was a nice day, he spent much of it sitting in the garden. On rainy or cold days, he would sit and watch television for hours at a time. He enjoyed his routine, and staff regularly checked that he was comfortable. During one of the regular checks, Nadine noticed that George’s legs were becoming swollen. She was new to the service, and not sure if George had any illnesses that might cause his legs to swell. She went to speak to her team leader, and explained what she had noticed about George’s legs. The team leader told Nadine that George had cardiac disease and swollen legs were one of the problems associated with that disease. She checked George immediately, and noticed he had developed pressure areas on both feet, as a result of his swollen legs and feet. |
