What are the indicators of impaired mobility?
If a resident has any of the problems listed below, he or she will have impaired mobility:
- contractures
- fractures
- injuries
- neurological conditions (for example, Parkinson's disease or stroke)
- pain (for example, caused by arthritis).
Think about residents in your care. Are any of them at risk of developing pressure areas as a result of impaired or reduced mobility? Where might these pressure areas develop?
