What guidelines, procedures or policies does your residential aged care service have regarding prevention of pressure areas?
The Victorian Quality Council recommends a zero tolerance for occurrence of pressure ulcers as an organisational aim. Pressure ulcers that develop from untreated pressure areas are an internationally recognised safety problem, and are regarded as a clinical indicator of the standard of care provided within an organisation. If a resident develops a pressure ulcer it has a substantial impact on his or her mortality, morbidity and quality of life. Therefore it is of considerable importance that pressure areas are prevented.
