To reduce pressure on the knees, heels and elbows, bolster the foot of the bed to prevent rubbing and dragging. Also place a pillow supporting the head and neck, extending from mid-thigh to above the ankle, leaving the heel free from contact to support the forearm and hand. This may assist to prevent hands getting swollen. Make sure the elbows are free of all pressure.
