Mario's story

 

Mario had spent most of his life in Italy and increasingly preferred to eat the food he had eaten when he was younger. For example, he loved pasta and hated canned spaghetti. It was difficult for him to feed himself, so he didn’t enjoy large meals. His family frequently brought food for him, but he seldom ate more than a small portion.

Lydia asked her team leader about how they could make sure that Mario was getting enough nutrition. Her team leader suggested a number of ways they could ensure Mario was eating well including talking with his family about bringing smaller snack size portions, which could be offered to him throughout the day. She also decided to contact the dietician to talk about food supplements and a change in Mario’s diet to meet his changing needs.
