How long does it take for pressure areas to develop?
In some circumstances pressure areas can develop in a very short period of time. In other circumstances they may develop quite slowly.
The time taken for a pressure area to develop depends on the:
- health of the resident and his/her skin
- amount of pressure being applied
- length of time the pressure is applied
- occurrence of moisture
- amount of rubbing or dragging on skin.
