If residents in your care have any of the following medical conditions, the risk of a pressure area developing into a pressure ulcer is increased:

  • diabetes
  • heart disease
  • lung disease (for example, emphysema)
  • cancer
  • chest infection
  • poor circulation
  • immune deficiency
